This year baking gingerbread ornaments has been a super fun project. I hear comments from others about the longevity of them but finding out for my self has been an interest. I know they taste awesome!

No Fat Deserts

As family members dietary needs change, baking has to change along with life. My latest challenge is how to make no fat diets include tasty deserts. Angel Food cakes have been an avenue that I am venturing down today. I have heard comments from tasters like..."Angel Food cakes in the stores don't taste like this. This is really good!"
From here is a challenge to combine the fat free and the regular cakes together so the best of both worlds can come together. Below is the start of fat free baking for a baby shower with the top half of the cake fat free and the bottom half not. As stacking layers of Angel Food cakes might be too squishy!
Also, a try at angel food ducky cookies dipped in pourable fondant! Excited to see the results!

Let's Play Baseball cake!!

Designing your own birthday cake when you are 14 can be exciting! I love to watch the face of my granddaughter as she turns on the creative juices!  She loves fast pitch basball and wanted a cake to reflect her passion. Made to order cakes brighten up the faces of everyone who knows the person it was made for! White cake light and flavorful with HOT TAMALE RED HOTS in the cream filling! Just enough heat and spice!

Baby Shower!!!!

Baby showers are fun times to get together and celebrate new life! Why not add some more fun withcenter piece topics?   This time it happened to be a dark chocolate cake with raspberry jam filling covered in a sea of blue fondant with white dots circled in dots. It kind of reminded me of gears! And with babies there are definate changes in gears that new parents go through!  The cookies are matching baby booties that are star tipped hearts with the booties outlined complimenting the cake.

Here come the Minions!!

The Minions have been a fun project to put together. Finding and perfecting using the liquid fondants as well as decorating with fondant. They each have their own personality!

It seems like the Minions have steered me in a direction of fun and playfulness that I have enjoyed to the max!! Hope you enjoy too!

Pretzels Fresh From The Oven

Can you smell the aroma? I am totally excited about how easy the pretzel dough is to make and work with. Now this may not be a cake, the possibilites are endless from a glazed chocolate coated desert to a sandwich to dinner rolls to place setting decorations or simple crackers. Relaxing to work the dough.

Lively Lemon Petit Fours

Created for a dear co-worker leaving our unit and moving on to another position. This person will be sadly missed but the flavor will long be remembered.

Layered lemon filling in a white cake swirled with lavender and covered with lemon melted and pourabe fondant that is actually edible! Most fondants taste bland with a texture you don't want to eat. These Petit Fours are very tasty with flavors that pop!

Chocolate Drizzled Rainbow Cake

Birthdays are challenging and fun to create a certain atmosphere that makes memories for each family member to last a lifetime. Special cakes and decorations add to the excitement of families getting together with added sensations of a specialness each individual brings to the table. I enjoy seeing faces experience their choices help to create. This cake again is Milk Free...surprising that chocolate can be without milk and still wonderful.

Fabulous Petit fours!

When asked to make Petit Fours I knew I could master it as I love recipes and creating what is requested to make. Coconut flavors are astounding whether plain or toasted. This has been a very fun project. I hope you enjoy!

New projects coming soon!

The first new project is a retirement cake for a very dear man who loves the outdoors and Mount Rainier. His cake choice is a carrot cake that is soooo very flavorful and awesome.  It is milk free but he opted to have cream cheese filling which is zesty orange and definately has cream cheese in it. The beauties of making cakes to order is that the person ordering the cake gets to decide what they want in it.  There is nothing like homemade carrot cakes with all the goodies that commercial cakes don't add due to the cost.

The second project coming this weekend is the Heart and Flowers cake. It is a yellow milk free cake and icing.Fondant covered with fondant and gum paste Calla Lilly flowers. Here is a picture of one of the Calla Lillies!

I have never thought that the flowers would ever look so natural! I am please and excited for more projects to come, but weekend will have these two projects listed. Hope you enjoy looking at the things that excite me as they are in the creation process!
